When we set out to create the most realistic set of sim-racing pedals the obvious choice was to start with a set of real racing pedals. The latest revision to these pedals is based on the legendary Wilwood pedal frame for the brake and clutch pedals. Get the feel of real GT style pedals from the GTpro1 pedals. All RealGear products are made using real motorsport equipment to bring the authentic racing experience to your sim-racing setup.

RealGear Simulator Pedals QuoteThrottle Pedal

The throttle pedal on the GTpro pedals starts life as a billet aluminum, precision machined pedal originally designed for mid-engine and rear-engine race cars. The face of the pedal has a diamond-engraved textured face to provide a small amount of grip while still letting your foot slide off easily over to the brake pedal. The throttle is a pedal that requires finesse and is actuated by pivoting the ankle, a floor mounted pedal uniquely follows this geometry and is able to provide better throttle control. The large slanted pedal design aids in heel-toe downshifting by placing the heel of the pedal closer to the brake while the large upper surface makes it easy to reach with the ball of the foot. The pedal is designed to have a short or long throw, depending on the user's driving style. The included side guard is typically there to prevent the driver's foot from interfering with the throttle linkage, but in sim pedals it works well to keep your foot from straying too far to the right. This guard is easily removable. The standard spring kit on the throttle pedal has been calibrated to provide the same resistance as a typical street car. An auxiliary spring kit is available which will increase the resistance by 40% for those drivers that prefer a stiffer setting. The throttle pedal actuates an industrial duty Honeywell state-of-the-art Hall-effect sensor for lifetime fidelity without any moving parts to wear. This sensor has an unlimited life cycle.

Brake Pedal

The brake pedal has been created to replicate the same mechanics that occur in a real braking system. We selected a cast and machined aluminum racing pedal and fitted it with a real master cylinder unit typically used in off-road racing. The brake pedal is one that requires a large amount of force to actuate in real race cars, and this pedal is no different. Since the driver must use their entire leg to operate this pedal, we have selected a pedal with an arm design and pivot point that follow the driver's leg motion. The master cylinder uses hydraulic fluid to interact with a specially modified slave cylinder which accurately replicated the mechanical flexing typically found in a braking system. An all-stainless steel industrial pressure sensor reads the hydraulic pressures in the braking system and sends this information to the ECU for further processing. User interchangeable resistance modules on the slave cylinder assembly let the user tailor the feel of the brake pedal from an economy street car to an F1 car and everything in between. As a result of our unique design, the pedal transmits every nuance of what happens in a real race car braking system. The unique sensation of the brake pads approaching the rotors, the moment the pads contact the rotors and the sensation of every component of the braking system flexing and stressing slow down the car gives the driver valuable feedback not available in any other pedal set on the market today.

The pedals are set up to feel like the brakes in a race-prepped street car. Add the Tuning Kit for ultimate tunability. The Tuning Kit includes additional urethane bushings to create a total of 10 firmness settings to replicate everything from economy street car brakes to heavy NASCAR racing brakes.

Clutch Pedal

GTpro Clutch SpringWe are especially proud of the clutch pedal. Clutch pedals have a unique feel all to themselves and we wanted to make sure we got that sensation correct. Again, we analyzed what mechanical components contribute to the sensation of the clutch pedal, specifically a race car clutch pedal. Ordinary street vehicles use a complex spring mechanism under the dashboard of the car to assist the driver in holding down the clutch pedal. This is helpful when the car is in stop and go traffic or simply stopped at an intersection. The purpose of this complex spring mechanism is to make the pedal lighter during its second half of travel, resulting in a soft-hard-soft pedal feel at it is moved from fully engaged to fully disengaged. Most other high-end sim-racing pedal sets on the market employ a complex spring mechanism on the clutch pedal to simulate this sensation. However, this complex mechanism is not only absent from a pure race car, it would also prevent the driver from smoothly releasing the pedal. In a pure race car clutch, the only forces acting back on the pedal is the clutch pressure plate spring. This spring, called a diaphram spring, is unique in itself as it gradually requires less effort the further it is flattened. The RealGear clutch pedal uses similar springs with high initial effort, while reducing the force required as the disc is flattened. This creates the most realistic sensation of a race car clutch pedal which provides the correct feedback to nail every shift . . . every time! Depressing the clutch pedal actuates a pneumatic master cylinder which utilizes a pressure sensor, rather than a position sensor to uniquely determine clutch engagement the way a real hydraulic clutch system operates.

Electronic Control Unit

The pedals interface with the PC via an ECU, the most advanced pedal control unit on the market. With a 16mhz microcontroller at its core which receives all the position readings from the pedals and processes them prior to sending them to the PC over the USB port. The ECU is capable of performing over 15,000 pedal reads per second and analyzes this abundance of information to extrapolate the most smooth and accurate pedal position information possible. The ECU is capable of sending up to 1,000 pedal position updates to the PC every second, but only when needed in order to conserve bandwidth. When the pedals are held in a steady position, updates to the PC are not required, this permits other USB devices to send data uninterrupted.

Ricmotech Hydraulic PedalsThe ECU stores configuration parameters and profile settings in non-volatile EEPROM memory. These settings are retained even if the pedals are unplugged and even if moved to a different PC. The pedals allow the user to create five different configuration profiles and store them in the ECU for easy retrieval. In addition, using a simple programming switch, the pedals can be configured without the need for software and without exiting from the game. Each pedal has individually configurable dead zones and linearity curves. The brake and throttle have adjustable smoothing settings to get the smoothest pedal response for each individual's driving style. The clutch can be disabled when not in use to allocate more processing power to the other pedals. In addition, there is a port for an optional handbrake which has many of the same adjustable parameters.

The pedals are designed to custom mount into your sim-racing rig. All three pedals mount individually to the floor of your sim-rig.

5 of 5 Great pedals with minor issues May 30, 2018
Reviewer: DS from USA
-Side to side (mainly brake) pedal movement is a bit much but not noticeable during game play
-When mounted to the Ricmotech floor plate, flexing occurs under heavy braking.
-Not including a usb cable isn't a big deal to me but seems silly not too.
-10 bit resolution-but honestly I cannot tell a difference vs. 12 bit pedals I have used.
-Cumbersome way to calibrate and set profiles.  It is a great option but a windows based solution is sorely needed.

-Unbelievable clutch feel and function.
-Once you get the brake properly calibrated -very important to calibrate- it is excellent as well.
-Accelerator can feel soft at first but it grows on you.
-Easy to mount onto plate.
-Look cool.

I purchased them for the immersion factor and they hit a home run with me.  Ricmotech, fix the side to side pedal,  add 12 bit resolution, up the plate thickness to reduce the flexing and you have a top notch offering that would be tough to beat.

2 of 5 So disappointed March 23, 2018
Reviewer: Slovenets from Wamberal, Nsw Australia
I was so looking forward to these pedals, particularly after Shaun Coles review, but the legendary brake was let's say, flimsy and rattled like a high school students first metal work project.

Though once the brake pedal was depressed., it worked like a charm and meet my expectation... after all this set cost me AUD$1250..

The clutch is simply a series of springs along a shaft coupled by a empty fluid reservoir. Yes empty. Cleary this is for show.  Did I say $1250

Add to this the accelerator needed an extra spring that allowed the throttle response to be drivable. This cam at an addition cost $$, and should have simply been thrown in as the original had too liye of a feel.

Whilst Frank is speedy and informative in his responses I think there is some quality control issue. Well with my brake and dampeners.

Ricmotech need to do better. Much better! Sorry guys.

5 of 5 Wilwood real feel pedals March 23, 2018
Reviewer: Cody Valdez from Antioch, TN United States
It reads pressure instead of distance. It feels so much better than anything else. I have a business called RaceDay. I felt if the average car enthusiast could sit down and play Assetto without crashing every lap we would be successful. I tested thrustmaster t3pa, and fanatec clubsport pedals. With t500, t300, fanatec elite wheel. My testing audience crashed often and didn't get the hang of it for 30min on average. That same audience tested an OSW simucube/ioni wheel and the Wilwood real feel pedals. Night and day difference. Not only did they become consistent they could threshold brake, catch slides and drift. It is an unpresidented difference. If you love to drive you must get pressure sensitive pedals and OSW.

5 of 5 GTpro Floor Mount Wilwood 3-Pedal Set December 6, 2017
Reviewer: Roy Hall from Henderson, NC United States
My first experience when getting the pedals I was disappointed I was expecting more from the brakes but realizing quickly that the settings needed to be adjusted and understanding how they needed to be set for me I quickly realized how good the pedals work and the more I use them I really feel more engaged with the car. The throttle control with the linerarity profile I feel guilty better car control on throttle. And the brakes the feel is just like being in any automobile response is always the same lap after lap with other brakes that I've had I never had the confidence with them like I do with Wilwood brakes. I would recommend anyone looking for a quality level pedals set don't hesitate.
