You asked and we delivered. Finally there is a do-it-yourself triple monitor racing simulator cockpit!
Have you wanted a robust racing simulator cockpit that can hold three monitors in a wrap-around configuration? The RS500 with the RS3 option is that cockpit. Unlike most commercially available racing cockpits that wiggle and cannot withstand the weight of triple monitors nor hold them steady for you while you race in your favorite sim-racing game, the RS500 is rock solid. So it was only natural that we take advantage of that sturdiness and create a triple monitor mount for it.
The RS3-DIY is a triple display holder you build yourself out of 3/4 inch thick MDF to upgrades the RS500-DIY simulator. The plans include cutting templates and a step-by-step instruction book for both the RS500-DIY sim-racing cockpit and the RS3-DIY triple monitor option. This triple monitor holder is robust enough to support up to three 27 inch inch monitors weighing up to 20lbs each. By using three identical monitors, the self-aligning design of the RS3-DIY will place your monitors perfectly aligned, and butted edge-to-edge. The angle of the side monitors has been carefully worked out to optimize the viewing angle to the driver no matter which size monitors you use. The monitors mount to the RS3 using the monitors own VESA 75x75 or 100x100 mounting provisions to make sure the monitors are firmly supported. For users that prefer to tuck the side monitors behind the center monitor to help conceal the bezel, there is an option on the templates to build the brackets that way (this feature requires monitors that do not exceed 1.25 inches of thickness at the edges of the monitors).
The RS1 sim-racing cockpit has already been touted as one of the most rigid designs among both DIY and commercially made gaming simulators available. All that strength and rigidity is what allows us to offer this unique option. The strength and stability of the RS1 is what allows a triple monitor stand to me mounted safely, do not try this with any other racing simulators on the market. The RS1 with the RS3 triple monitor brackets creates one of the only all-in-one designs on the market today.
NOTE: THIS IS A BUNDLE PACKAGED SET OF PLANS FOR THE RS500 AND THE RS3. You will receive both sets. The instructions for the RS500 guide you to how to complete the RS500 and leave it prepared for the RS3, at which point you build the RS3 and add it to the RS500. The monitors must have a wall mount VESA 75x75 or 100x100 mounting pattern and have a removable pedestal. If you are in doubt, please email us a picture of the back or your monitor along with the make and model so we can help you determine if they will work with our mount. The VESA mounting pattern should be centered on the back of the monitor, if it is not please contact us for instructions on modifying the mount to compensate for it. To obtain the intended results you must use 3 identical monitors, dis-similar monitors will not align properly. Some unusually thick monitors may require additional trimming of the brackets to permit mounting as intended, there are no bad consequences to this just a little extra work. Monitors should be removed for transporting of the sim-rig, if frequent removal of the monitors is likely, we recommend installing quick release mounting brackets available on our website. We do not recommend monitors with controls on the side edges since they will obviously be obstructed when mounted in this arrangement.
